, eliminate waste matter and facilitate the regeneration of new, healthy cells.
Never apply essential oils directly to the face or skin. Add about six drops to a bowl of warm water. Soak a cotton cloth in the water and then apply to face and neck as a compress for five minutes. Repeat three times. Gently towel dry the face and neck and apply an anti-oxidant, anti-inflammatory facial splash and activator.
Select essential oils to suit your mood and purpose. If, for example, you want to unwind after a busy day, select soothing oils. If you want to revitalize and energize, choose stimulating oils.

1938-1988 Jaguar Sedans

Jaguar is more than 80 years old now, and has long been celebrated for its magnificent sports and GT cars. You know the ones: the classic SS-100 of the Thirties, the lusty XKs of the Forties and Fifties, the sensuous E-Type of the Sixties, the lush XJ-S of the Seventies and Eighties. But sedans have loomed equally large in this British automaker’s fortunes, each a fast and stylish creation. Though the XJ6 of the Eighties represented only the sixth basic sedan design in Jaguar history, it was as much in the hallowed “Grace-Space-Pace” tradition as any of its predecessors.
Classic Cars Image Gallery
The Jaguar story begins in 1921 at Blackpool, where young William Lyons teamed with William Walmsley in the Swallow Sidecar Company to design and produce specially shaped motorcycle sidecars. Six years later, SS branched out into the automobile business with a line of attractive open and closed sports bodies for popular high-volume chassis from makers like Austin, Morris, and Standard. The firm moved to Coventry in 1928, then changed its name to Swallow Coachbuilding Company, Ltd., in 1931, when it began turning out complete cars based on Standard running gear

.
Its first offering, the SS I, was a close-coupled long-hood coupe powered by a 2.1-liter side-valve six in a specially fabricated underslung chassis that conferred a distinctive ground-hugging stance. This model and a smaller-displacement companion sold surprisingly well for a new British make in the Depression, prompting the firm to expand a great deal and, in 1934, to change its name again, this time to SS Cars, Ltd.
Lyons took another step forward in 1935 by hiring William Heynes, a successful suspension engineer from the Rootes Group, to run the SS design department. He also recruited a talented engine designer, Harry Westlake. Lyons thought that the fruits of his firm’s labors deserved a special identity and, after considering a list of animal names, came up with the SS-Jaguar badge, which appeared that year on a handsome new sporting sedan.
From then until his retirement in 1972, Lyons would be personally involved with the design of every Jaguar. This explains the styling and engineering continuity from one Jaguar sedan to the next, something only a sensitive, single-minded individual can ensure. Thus, for example, the Mark V of 1948 was clearly descended from the prewar-design Mark IV, the original XJ6 of 1968 from the predecessor Mark X/420G.

Exercise Before or After Sauna Use?

Sauna, a Finnish word and essential part of Finnish health, is considered a standard rather than a luxury. Primitive saunas dug into a slope on a hill, had a fire pit in the middle. After the industrial revolution the sauna evolved to a small wooden room with heated rocks or used infrared lights to create heat. Sauna use is added to exercise regimes to aid with detoxification. You can exercise before or after sauna use.
The temperature of a dry sauna is about 70 degrees Celsius or 154 degrees Fahrenheit. This forces your body to sweat and increases your heart rate. The energy utilized during a thirty minutes sauna session is approximately the same as running 10 kilometers. After sauna use your body perceives it has just received exercise. This is why you need to consider your fluid intake whether you exercise before or after sauna use.
Water needs to be replaced when exercising. You lose water from sweating and from breathing. Relaxing in a sauna forces your body to sweat

, causing water and electrolyte loss. Replace fluids by drinking eight to 16 oz. of water after your sauna session. It is not recommended to consume a large meal before sauna or exercise. Your body needs fuel, however a lighter snack is more appropriate. You should also have another snack after exercising and using a sauna. If you use a sauna before exercise your muscles will be very relaxed and you risk injury or becoming dehydrated.
According to Dr. Lawrence Wilson, MD, it is recommended initially to spend no more than 20 minutes in a sauna. After using a sauna successfully a few times, this can be increased up to 40 minutes. You should never use a sauna more than once a day. It is most beneficial to use a sauna first thing in the morning or right before bed. Your exercise can happen either before or after sauna use, but not immediately following.

, New Zealand, discovered after long-distance runners spent 30 minutes in a sauna after exercising their blood volume was increased. This lead to greater endurance for the next work-out session. However, athletes were used for the study, which are already in top physical condition. This should be considered with your exercise regime.

Make Your Own Bubble Bath

After a long, hard day at work, slipping into a warm bubble bath sounds like a luxury fit for a queen. Commercially made bubble bath products do the job, but they’re often loaded with strange chemicals that cause your skin to break out in a rash, or worse. If you’re not a fan of store-bought bubble bath, you don’t need to give up the suds completely. Instead, give making your own bubble bath a try. You can even add essential oils for a custom fragrance that you’ll love.

. Castile soap comes in several different scents, such as lavender, peppermint, rose and an unscented variety.
Add 4 cups of distilled water to the soap mixture. Stir well until suds form.
Add a few drops of your favorite essential oils for fragrance. To make a minty bubble bath, use three drops of peppermint oil, three drops of spearmint oil and six drops of eucalyptus oil. For a citrus bath, add three drops of lemon oil, four drops of grapefruit oil and six drops of orange oil. Try ylang ylang and jasmine oil for a romantic fragrance, or lavender and patchouli for relaxation.
Pour the bubble bath into a container with a lid. Seal the container and shake well.

The Types of Sacrifices Athletes Make

Being an athlete is a lifestyle that consumes every aspect of your life. Whether you¡¯re a professional athlete, recreational athlete or participate in a sport while you¡¯re in school, you¡¯ll have to make all kinds of sacrifices in order to succeed. It¡¯s important to surround yourself with a strong support system — people who understand your desire to be the best and will support you through thick and thin.
Being an athlete is an around-the-clock commitment. You¡¯ll have to give up a big chunk of the free time you spend with friends, family or just by yourself lounging on the couch. When you¡¯re not at the gym or out on the field, you¡¯ll be studying videos of your past performances, opening your eyes as to how you can improve in the future. You might even watch film footage of your competitors so you can learn their strengths and weaknesses to give you a competitive edge.
When you¡¯re in training, you¡¯ll have to follow a rigid diet plan set forth by your physician, trainer or dietitian. You have to consume a precise amount of carbohydrates, protein and fat, meaning you might have to give up on the freedom of selecting your favorite foods and refuse to give in to your cravings. Not only will you have to eat certain foods, but also you¡¯ll have to eat them at specific times, often every few hours while you¡¯re awake.
Long gone are those days when you can press snooze on your alarm clock over and over when you¡¯re in training

. Being an athlete is a full-time job so you have to start early and work late in some cases. But when you¡¯re in training, you don¡¯t get to take weekends and holidays off. You still have to continue to stick to a rigid sleeping schedule and get up early enough each day to meet with your trainer or team.
If you¡¯ve ever had a sore ankle, back or wrist, you might have taken a day or two off of work to let it rest. You don¡¯t always get that luxury of taking time off, or even taking a break, when you¡¯re an athlete

. You¡¯ll have to learn to work through the pain, especially if you have a group of teammates who rely on you to get the win.
When you¡¯re still in school, you¡¯ll most likely miss out on a lot of the educational experience package. You might not spend as much time on campus as a traditional student and have to hire a tutor to help you stay up to speed on your studies. You¡¯ll miss out on after school activities, class time and social events that other students get to do. Depending on your travel schedule, you may have to give up a traditional graduation ceremony as well.

1969 Mercury Cougar

Mercury raised its muscle car profile with the introduction of the 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator. Taking its cue from such rivals as Z28 and SS Camaros, as well as Ford’s own Boss 302 and Mach 1 Mustangs, Ford introduced the Eliminator in April 1969. The Eliminator came with a range of engines, from the Trans Am-inspired solid-lifter 302-cid small block to the 428-cid Cobra Jet big block.

Mercury had introduced its sporty coupe in 1967 as a luxury-touring alternative to the pony-car herd. It had mature styling and upscale interior appointments and was built on a Mustang chassis stretched by three inches to provide a longer, ride-enhancing wheelbase.
Mercury in these years was deeply involved in racing. It backed a variety of record-setting Comet and Cougar drag specials, as well as NASCAR-winning Cyclones

, though not for lack of trying. Cougar contributed with the ’68 GT-E, which like the Mustang, opened the year with an available 390-horsepower 427-cid V-8, then switched to the 428 Cobra Jet. The image was still more Euro luxury touring car than American muscle, though. It wasn’t until the release of the 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator that Mercury was able earn a reputation for muscular Detroit iron.
Not all 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminators were that powerful. In all-out acceleration, the available 290-horsepower 302 was overmatched by the Cougar’s weight, but the 428 Cobra Jet benefited from the relatively generous wheelbase. Grip was slightly better off the line than in the shorter Mustang, and quarter-mile times were every bit as good.
Like Mustang, the Eliminator offered the 428-cid CJ with and without Ram Air, as well as in Drag Pak guise with an oil cooler and a 4.30:1 gear-ratio Detroit Locker rear axle. The Eliminator didn’t use the shaker hood; its standard scoop was functional only when Ram Air was ordered. A blacked-out grille, side stripe, and front and rear spoilers enhanced the muscular look, and Mercury offered the Eliminator in a palette of “high-impact” blue, orange, and yellow exterior colors.
More impact could be obtained over dealer parts counters, which offered not only headers and dual-quad carburetors, but such exotic hop-up components as deep-sump oil pans and quadruple Weber carburetor setups. From the factory, or with these available parts, the 1969 Mercury Cougar Eliminator was true American muscle.
